Colombo Stopover & Day Trips — 1 to 3 Days
A long layover, a spare weekend or a first day before the real trip starts. Kandy and Sigiriya in a day, Galle and whales in another, or Colombo done properly.

Not everybody arrives with two weeks. Some people have a long layover at Bandaranaike, a spare Saturday at the end of a work trip, or a cruise ship docked at Colombo for the day. These are private day trips built to fit whatever time you have.
How pricing works
Day trips are priced per vehicle rather than per person, so a family of four pays roughly what a couple does. The from-price shown is per person based on two travelling; ask us for the vehicle rate and you can do the arithmetic yourself.
Layover advice, honestly given
Sri Lankan roads are slower than the map suggests. If someone promises you Sigiriya on a six-hour layover, they are not being straight with you. Tell us your flight numbers and we will tell you what genuinely works.

Your itinerary
This is a starting point. Every day can be swapped, slowed down or extended — just tell us what you would rather do.
1 Option A — Sigiriya & Dambulla in a day
A 4am start from Colombo, the rock by 8am, Dambulla by midday and back around 7pm. It is a long day and we will say so, but for a short stopover it is the most rewarding one.
Overnight: Return to Colombo
2 Option B — Kandy in a day
The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, a spice garden and a Kandyan dance show, with around six hours of driving in total.
Overnight: Return to Colombo
3 Option C — Galle & the south coast
The expressway south, Galle Fort on foot, a Madu River boat safari through the mangroves and a turtle hatchery. Whale watching can replace the fort from December to April.
Overnight: Return to Colombo
4 Option D — Colombo city
Half or full day: Pettah and the Red Mosque, Gangaramaya Temple, the old Dutch Hospital, Independence Square, Galle Face Green at sunset and a street food walk if you want one.
Overnight: Return to hotel

About this tour
I have an 11-hour layover. What can I do?
Comfortably: Negombo lagoon and fish market, or a Colombo city tour. At a push: Kandy, though it is tight. Sigiriya is not realistic under 14 hours. Send us your exact flight times on WhatsApp and we will tell you honestly what fits.
Can we store luggage?
Yes — it stays in the vehicle, which is with you all day, or we can arrange left luggage at the airport.
